Monterey Grill of Port Orange Review
When I found out that Monterey Grill of Port Orange was voted as the Reader’s Choice Best Restaurant of 2017, I had to check them out. With a nearly 5-star rating on TripAdvisor I knew that Monterey Grill was a restaurant worth dining out at. And, with $3.99 Sangrias every Saturday night (which were amazing by the way), how could you pass that up?
Monterey Grill, conveniently located off of Dunlawton and 95 in Port Orange, is a family friendly restaurant with a welcoming, casual atmosphere. There was much to choose from on their menu, from seafood, to house specialties, and everything was priced lower than what you’d expect for the quality food you get.
We started with the sangria and fried zucchini, which was crunchy on the outisde and complimented with a tangy sauce to complete it. The sangria alone is worth visiting for, as it has the perfect balance of fruit and wine.
I ordered the steak with sweet potato fries and fresh fruit (they allow you to swap out sides to your liking). I am a steak lover and this steak exceed my expectations. It had a smoky flavor while being extremely tender, yet a nice charred flavor on the outside. It was seasoned perfectly, there was no need to add salt. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had with a nice crunch which is rare for sweet potato fries.
We were told that the Santa Monica chicken was a house favorite, so my husband ordered this parmesan and panko crusted chicken. Topped with sun-dried tomatoes and finished with a savory butter-lemon sauce, this moist chicken dish was filled with home cooked flavor.
We’re not normally ones to order dessert, but we couldn’t pass up the Mocha Mud Pie set in an Oreo cookie crust, filled with chocolate coffee ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce and toasted almond. This indulgent dessert lasted all of 2 minutes at our table as we fought for the next bite!
Monterey Grill offers an affordable menu without sacrificing quality and flavor. With its convenient location off of 95, its a great restaurant to visit any time of the week.
