iPie Handcrafted Pizza & Beer of Daytona Review

If you head down to the Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach to take in a movie, I highly recommend that you set aside the boring, run-of-the-mill popcorn, and try out a handcrafted pizza from iPie located in the Satellite Cinemas theater. You may have heard of MyPi that once took up space on the 3rd level of Ocean Walk, but that space is under new management, and they feature incredible pizzas to offer hungry movie-goers. If you don’t want to go the movies, no worries! You can enjoy a handcrafted pizza and local craft beers for lunch or dinner. Instead of taking in a movie, you can take in the gorgeous view they have to offer.

One of the first things you should know about iPie is that they only use fresh ingredients and make their dough in-house. The second thing you should know is that if you liked the MyPi pizzas, chances are they brought back your old favorites: the Hawaiian, the BBQ Chicken, and the Apple Pie Pizza. I heard that the Apple Pie Pizza was a fan-favorite at the Food, Wine, & Brew Festival that took place at the Daytona Hilton a few weeks ago.

During my visit, I tried the Taco Pizza. I’m usually just your average pepperoni pizza-type of girl or maybe I step it up with a Meat Lover’s version. But this Taco Pizza was a revelation. It absolutely tasted like a taco on a pizza in the best possible way. With fresh ground beef, black beans, picante sauce, and dollops of sour cream, this pizza is now my new favorite.

I also sampled their Nutella Pie. The spread was a mash-up of Nutella and semi-sweet chocolate chips melted on the fresh pie dough. What really made this dessert pie stand out was the perfect balance of the gooey spread to pizza dough crust. One element did not overpower the other.

Both the Taco Pizza and the Nutella Pie had about 8 slices each, so you can consider these personal pizzas. Or you can order a few different options to share among a bigger group of friends. You have the option of creating your own pizza and there are lots of topping options to choose from. And if pizza isn’t your thing, iPie also has an offering of Salads, Appetizers and Snacks. I tried the Sweet Potato Fries which had a dusting of cinnamon sugar which elevated the flavor of the fries.

Be sure to take advantage of iPie’s Happy Hour: they serve $7 pizzas from noon to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Gone are the date nights when you have dinner first then go see a movie and choosing between tacos or pizza. At iPie Handcrafted Pizza & Beer, you can have both and love it!
